Q. Do both male and female peacocks have tails?
A.No. Only the male peacock has the train ( long tail) .
The train is made up of irredescent covert feathers which he displays as part of his courtship. These feathers are known as the "eye feathers". The female, peahen, has a short tail.
Fun Facts:The female also displays her tail plumage to ward off female competition or signal danger to her young.
Q. What do peacocks eat?
A. Peacocks in the wild will eat snakes, lizzards, frogs and insects along with berries (fruits) flower petals and seeds. We feed our peacocks wild game food supplemented with fresh fruits and vegetables. We also add vitamins to their diet.
